RCSW Pacific Northwest Congress in Spokane this April is Cancelled

Dear Colleagues,

As society deals with the increasing ramifications of Covid19, the RCSW is announcing the cancellation of the Pacific NW Congress in Spokane this April. Attempting to meet at this time will place our respiratory community at increased risk, and impact hospital staffing during this time of critical need. Respiratory Care’s role throughout this pandemic will be better served helping save lives.

Our annual Congress is one of the country’s largest state meetings, committed to delivering relevant information, great networking opportunities, and category one CEU’s for licensure. Our Conference Committee organized another great event this year, the gravity of our evolving health crisis helped us replace the disappointment of canceling with a sense of pride and mission for our profession.

For those who have upcoming licensure renewal and were counting on this year’s conference for CEU’s, there are some options; for AARC members, AARC University is the AARC’s continuing education portal for most online courses.  Please find other education (CEU) links on our homepage WWW.RCSW.org.  Another RCSW pillar is supporting education with annual student scholarships made possible by our conference margins. We’ve decided unanimously as a Board to continue this core commitment without a conference in 2020. Interested students have till the end of March to apply.

These trying times will magnify how important each and everyone of you are, and how many lives collectively we’ll positively impact. Go to work if you’re physically able, be civil with your coworkers, and be a positive force in getting our communities through this crisis. We’re in this together!!

Thanks to you all,

Joel Ray, RRT

RCSW President
