HMC Respiratory Care has an outstanding opportunity for a part time 90% FTE night shift RESPIRATORY CARE NIGHT LEAD. The Respiratory Care Lead provides advanced Respiratory Care to patients of all ages, (e.g., newborn, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric). Care is provided under general supervision in all areas of Harborview Medical Center, intensive care units, acute care clinics and the emergency room.  The Respiratory Care Lead performs all of the duties of a Respiratory Care Practitioner and in addition works on special projects, assigns work, instructs and checks the work of others.

Under general direction, the Respiratory Care Lead:
• Utilizes the respiratory care  process (assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation) to recommend, delegate, coordinate and proved safe, therapeutic respiratory care to patients;
• Makes independent judgments/decisions and takes action regarding a wide range of routine and complex patient issues;
• Collaborates with appropriate disciplines to coordinate continuity of patient care from admission through discharge in support of the respiratory, medical and nursing plans of care.
• Serves as role model and provides guidance to other staff including review and evaluation of performance.

The Respiratory Care Lead performs specific leadership functions related to clinical practice, education, and/or management as delegated by and in collaboration with the Department Manager; provides leadership for unit and departmental activities that promote:
• Delivery of quality respiratory care,
• Effective problem solving and communication, and
• Continued professional development for self and others.

Minimum Qualifications:

Completion of a respiratory care program approved by the State of Washington Department of Health AND eighteen months of experience as a Respiratory Care Practitioner
equivalent education/experience.

Licensed as a Respiratory Care Practitioner by the State of Washington and must be RRT (Registered Respiratory Therapist).
